An exhibition showcasing publications made from out of copyright text. I was lucky enough to be able to curate with a great group of people and publish a book myself. My book was based on Edgar Allen Poe's The Raven. Whilst designing for this print I read his text many times, I wanted to really understand and visualise his words. For this reason I feel the design took a very dark and multi-directionl layout. Which, when I think about it now... Really works with his tone and makes me feel like I really got to be in Mr. Poe's mind. Success! In addition, the cover was made out of 300 gsm black board with a screen printed title. I wanted to make my audience really look at the book and understand how dark the story could get and see inside what was (to me) quite a personal stream of thought. For these reasons I made the book pocket sized, something you could really hide in your hand, as not everyone is as open as Poe with their woes.
